Pretty sure to truly understand the bible you literally have to be a polymathic, septilingual Oxford graduate and retired theologian. Equally sure no real God would set the barrier to enlightenment quite so high. Syriac? Ugaratic? Aramaic? Classical Hebrew? Latin? Really, Lord?

The Bible is a work of man, expressing the individuals of the times’ beliefs - and should be treated as such.

My Grandad fills me with faith. In humanity.

The Bible is not a scientific book; it is not a historical book; it is not always an accurate book. It is an attempt to express religious ideas.
    - Adrian Curtis, talking to my Grandad about their similar biblical beliefs - and remembering his friend John Allegro, RIP. Despite being a baptist minister and John an agnostic-atheist, they remained friends for life and my Grandad oversaw over his funeral.
